Eder van Pelt

Eder van Pelt is Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law and at the Graduate Course in Sociology and Law at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He coordinates the Sexuality, Law and Democracy Research Group and the LGBTQIA+ Legal Clinic in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. He is the author of the book "Encruzilhadas Queer no Direito" (Queer Crossroads in Law) and organizer of the book "Qual o Futuro da Sexualidade no Direito?" (What is the Future of Sexuality in Law?). He has several articles and book chapters on the intersections of law with sexuality, gender, processes of subjectivation, identity and implications of digital technologies on individuals. He is currently researching decoloniality and processes of constitution of sexualized identities in South America, especially in Brazil, in order to understand the possibilities of building sexual and reproductive rights corresponding to the senses of sexual and gender liberation specific to Latin America.
